Oliver is a photographer with over 21 years professional experience working within the social photography industry. He began his career as an event photographer on five star luxury cruise liners before starting his own wedding and portrait business in 2002.

Introduced to photography at an early age by close family friend and documentary photographer Chris Chapman, Oliver has maintained a photographic practice since the early 1990s. Following his Foundation year at Hereford College of Arts Oliver studied Illustration and Contemporary Fine Art Practice at Suffolk College of Art & Design, graduating in 1996.

Oliver returned to HCA in 2014 as the short course tutor for the digital photography evening class before taking up the role of photographic technical demonstrator. He has since worked as a tutor on the Foundation and Extended Diploma Art & Design courses, and is currently teaching School of Making students how to document their work and practice.

He is currently involved in the SUNCETT academic research program, working towards a PhD in educational research, focusing on photographic training within the HE sector.
