  • Early career in nursing including senior roles with the Royal College of Nursing and working as a training and development consultant before progression as a campaigner within political and public life. Roles included a councillor in Islington, deputy mayor and election to the London Assembly as a London-wide Assembly Member
  • Numerous roles include Chair of the London Health Commission, member of the London Assembly Assembly’s Police & Crime Committee, Chair of the Cultural Strategy Group for London and Chair of the Assembly’s Education Panel
  • Awarded an OBE for her services to local government and London in 2010, In 2019 she became a Freeman of the City of London and received the Freedom of the City of London. (In times past, this would mean being free to take her Sheep across London Bridge without being charged, wear a sword and be free from arrest for drunkenness within the City Walls
  • Mentor and coach to cohorts of the next generation of BAME leaders. Governor of the Royal Court Theatre; Member of St Peter’s Parochial Church Council, Stanton Lacy; Patron of the British Caribbean Association; the UK Association of Forensic Nursing (UKAFN); Waltham Forest Christian Kitchen; Pan-Arts and also a keen supporter of Arsenal FC
