Dr Jonathan Whitehall is an artist who works principally with video, drawing and text. He trained at Goldsmiths, University of London (BA Fine Art), the University of Leeds, (MA Feminism and the Visual Arts) and completed his PhD by practice at the Royal College of Art. His work has been shown internationally and he has taught at LCC, Westminster, Middlesex and UCA. Jonathan joined HCA as a lecturer on the MA Fine Art course and also teaches on the BA Fine Art. Alongside this he teaches on the BA Fine Art at The Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture and Design, London Metropolitan University.

Jonathan’s practice frequently considers the problematic relationship of representation to a past event or memory, and reflects upon desire and temporality. A consideration of what constitutes the personal and the political underlies much of his work and his practice is informed by psychoanalytical theories of fantasy and subjectivity.
