Choosing the right course

Progressing from school or college is a big change – not everyone knows exactly the course for them straight away. So, how do you choose the right course?

Our best advice is to keep an open mind. Because we are a dedicated art college we offer a wide range of specialist courses. This means there will be new subjects available to study at Hereford College of Art that you may not have considered before.

To narrow down your search, try these questions:

  • Think about what you are already good at. What are your talents and skills?
  • What are you enthusiastic about? What drives your curiosity?
  • How do you imagine your career? Think about what you’d like to do, also the environment and the people you’d like to work with.
  • Are you drawn to 3D objects? Abstract ideas? Digital Media? Drawing? Fashion? Performance? Materials? Narratives or technology?

Now browse our courses online or take a look at a prospectus and think about which course best matches your personal mix of interests.

You might realise you have more options than you previously thought!

Open Events

Attending one of our open days is a great way to get a feel for the college and the different courses we offer. It might be useful for you to make contact with a course tutor, either at an open day or online via the course pages.
