A hands-on crash course in ceramics for complete beginners! Discover the magic of clay as you learn essential techniques and create your own unique pieces to take home.

Overview

Get hands-on with clay in this creative, beginner-friendly course. Over two days, you’ll explore the basics of hand-building, learn essential techniques like pinch, coil, and slab construction, and try your hand at decorative surface finishes. With expert guidance, you’ll create your own unique ceramic pieces to take home. Perfect for anyone curious about ceramics — no experience needed, just a willingness to get a little messy and have fun!

About the Tutor

Lucy Baxendale is a Ceramicist, Illustrator, and Community Artist from rural Herefordshire. She transforms her sketches into unique 3D sculptures, where lines evolve into stories. Her work bridges imagination and reality, featuring unglazed, stained surfaces that capture the essence of a sketch. Lucy’s playful approach invites you to see drawings come to life in new, unexpected ways. Recognized as Craft and Design magazine’s “One to Watch” in 2011 and one of Ceramics Monthly’s Emerging Artists in 2022, Lucy continues to refine her practice.
