Qualification: UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology (Digital Media)

Creative Media Production and Technology students showcase their cool and cutting edge skills that they have learnt across a number of projects in animation, film making, 3D modelling and game design, motion graphics, virtual reality and augmented reality.
Students have been mastering industry standard software applications such as After FX, Premiere Pro, Animate, Unreal, Blender and Mad Mapper along with using and understanding industry standard equipment and processes.

This forward facing course is designed for students who have a keen interest in interactive media, computing, digital and future immersive technologies. We’ve developed our digital curriculum in collaboration with employers and digital industry experts. You will be immersed in specialist digital disciplines, supported by expert staff who are also creative technologists and working in the industry.

The course will support you to develop a unique body of work and explore many ways to apply it in the real world. Inspired by live employer projects and industry visits you will create your work on the high-end PCs running industry standard creative software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Blender and Unreal.

The first year allows you to develop your confidence in a range of digital skills, and the second year gives you a chance to move into specialist areas, where you can focus on specific digital and interactive pathways that interest you most. Your choice of specialism for your second year might include:

– Computer Games Design and Production
– Digital story telling including short film making
– Virtual and augmented reality
– 360 Audio and video production
– Motion graphics
– Green screen and VFX
– 3D modelling
– Large scale projection mapping
– Social Media content creation

You will experience a wide range of innovative and industry standard technologies and will develop skills relating to an exciting array of digital media based pathways. Our technical and teaching staff will support you to gain a deep level of understanding into the fast moving digital industry.

You will learn both the technical and collaboration skills essential for researching, developing ideas, and designing solutions to meet a brief.
You will become competent in a range of 2D, 3D, web, moving image, audio visual and game engine software applications.

You can achieve a maximum of 168 UCAS points equivalent to 3 A-Levels at A* grade. Students successfully completing this course can apply to the BA (Hons) Illustration and Animation, Graphic & Media Design or Film Making  degree course at HCA and a range of other digital media degree programmes at other universities and colleges throughout the UK.

Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade 9 – 4 (A*- C) or a Merit at Level 2 Diploma. To ensure that you qualify it is highly desirable that you achieve at least a Grade 4 / C or above in English and maths. You will be interviewed by the course team.
