HCA Alumnus James Price wins Oscar

Former Hereford College of Arts student, James Price, scooped the Oscar for Best Production Design, with local innovator Shona Heath from Worcestershire. Along with the team, the pair collaborated on the incredible sci-fi Victorian world-building of Poor Things, starring Emma Stone and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.

“We’re just a couple of Brits in the home of movie making,” James told the BBC ahead of last night’s ceremony in LA.

“It’s kind of mind blowing you know these are our peers, just being unbelievably generous.

“Wigmore School played a big part in my life, it was hugely influential, as was Hereford College of Arts,” he said.

“They turned me into an adult and started my career so hugely important,” he added.

“I was severely dyslexic and they helped me get ready for the outside world.”
