Richard’s background is in 3D Design. He studied at West Surrey College of Art and became a successful commercial designer working across the UK.  He has a long-standing fascination for the machine aesthetic in Architecture, Design and Engineering.  Richard’s passion is creating form and structure through the combination of using both digital and physical processes.

Richard is responsible for delivering digital modules across a variety of courses; introducing students to the potential that new technologies can offer their design & making practice. Balancing his time between the IT studios and workshops Richard can offer practical advice, supporting students to problem solve through a diverse range of materials and processes.

Happiest when he is on two wheels, whether it is hurtling down the muddy trails in the woods of Herefordshire or rebuilding his motorbikes in the garage.  Collaborations with both staff and students are a personal highlight for Richard as part of the team at HCA.
