Ruth took a BA Joint Honours in English and Drama at the University of London followed by an Advanced Post-Graduate Certificate in Acting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She worked in Theatre in Education, arts-based youth, community and rehabilitation work in Cardiff and London before managing social inclusion projects in the UK and Ireland which itself led to further training in counselling, addiction and rehabilitation at the National University of Ireland and University College Dublin. She completed her PGCE in 2017 whilst teaching English in FE and is currently taking a Masters in Creative Practices in Education at the University of Chester.

Ruth joined HCA in December 2020 to focus on supporting students to improve their English and Maths skills.
