We invited seven professional people to the Summer Show to hold one-to-one interviews with students from BA (Hons) Artist Blacksmithing, BA (Hons) Contemporary Design Crafts and BA (Hons) Jewellery Design. They were asked to give advice and guidance to students; not only about the work, but also to explore their plans for the future.

Hannah Bowen and Sarah Williams Hereford College of Arts
Here we have Hannah Bowen showing her jewellery collection to Sarah Williams of Williams Handmade.
In the background is Guillaime Klein with Stuart Houghton, contemplating Gui’s work whilst taking it easy on his bench.

Topics that were discussed ranged from marketing, promotion and display, to making skills and production.  A lot of the students asked for feedback on the pricing of their work and got some great advice.

Pete Goodridge Hereford College of Arts
Pete Goodridge, founder of Art Works Abergavenny, discussing the work with BA (Hons) Artist Blacksmithing third year Richard Oliver.

It was exciting to see that students really enjoyed the experience and got a lot out of it. Despite initial nerves, they found the ‘interviewers’ surprisingly supportive and friendly!

Melissa Morgan Hereford College of Arts
Here is Charlotte Kingston, Exhibition/Education Officer for Craft in the Bay Arts Centre, having a chat with Melissa Morgan (left), about her work.

It was also great to see the reaction of the professionals who commented on how impressed they were with the student’s abilities and confidence in speaking about their work, and their future plans.

Ann Beardwood Hereford College of Arts
Kathryn Roberts of The Gate Gallery chatting with Ann Beardwood about her faceted glass rings.

Thank you to everyone who came along to speak to our talented final year students!
