Hereford College of Arts Berlin

Apart from absorbing the insprational visuals from this deconstruted and reinvented city, we visited a host of internationally acclaimed galleries and collections including: The Hambuger Bahnhof, The Neus Museum, The National Gallery of Berlin and The Bauhaus Collection to name but a few.

As well as joining in with organised tours, all of the students were given the opportunity to explore the city in small groups and soon became accustomed to Berlins trains, tubes and trams whilst travelling across Berlin in search of pop-up galleries, flea markets, art deco swimming pools, infamous hotel lobbies and vintage clothes shops.

The centrally located hotel meant that the students had close by landmarks to guide them back, the Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag building and Jewish memorial just across the river.

Hereford College of Arts Berlin Trip

The whole trip was a visual and sensory experience, the Architecture of The Jewish Museum, Neus Museum and Reichstag dome left the groups considering the impact of space and temperature…The work of Joseph Beuys, Warhol and Twombly offered the students a new sense of ambition for scale and discovery….watch this space for more images, stories and students responses to the experience.   Thank you to all of those involved – I think that Berlin would have us back any time.
