As part of our third year summative assessments, students are asked to prepare a short presentation. They have the opportunity to talk about their practice, the ideas behind the practice, the processes used, things that have worked well, things that need improving and the way that they want to move forward.

I really enjoy listening to the students’ presentations, it gives me a real insight into what they have got and what they have learned.

Usually students set up their work spaces in the studio, but this time many of the third years chose to exhibit their work in the main hall, giving the work more of a gallery context and taking it away from the hustle and bustle of a busy design studio. Seeing the work in the main hall made a real difference.

The presentations are done to the whole group, so everyone gets an opportunity to hear and students get more confident in talking to a group of people about their practice which is so important as the final degree show is only a few months away.
