I have been asked to currate and organise an exhibition to run alongside the event in my role as council member for the British Artist Blacksmithing Association. key contributor to the BABA exhibition team and course leader of the only Artist Blacksmithing degree course in the UK.

I have recently come back from checking out the first venue for the exhibition in Ypres. I spent an afternoon with Andy Rowe, Alan Dawson and the Ypres core group measuring heights and checking out the space at Kazematten, which is a large contemporary gallery space in the centre of Ypres, close to the Menin Gate. It’s a fantastic space in which to exhibit contemporary forged metal work.

We’ve got big ambitions for this exhibition- a legacy catalogue and plans for it to tour across Europe.

The exhibition is open to both professionals and students. Heiner Zimmerman, adjunct Professor of Metal Art  Steneby at HDK School of Design and Crafts, University of Gothenburg, is working closely with me as we contact programmes across the world to get students involved in submitting proposals for the exhibition. So whether you are a student, a graduate or an experienced professional, this exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for you. To find out more and find out how you can apply click here, the deadline for proposals is Monday 14th December 2015.
