Our Foundation Diploma in Art & design has always been a hub of frenetic creativity. The course, by its very nature, attracts highly ambitious students who use their time here as a springboard to a diverse range of interests and pathways after they leave, and so it was no surprise to find the studios awash with inspiration this week.

Although the space is not quite ready for public consumption just yet, it was evident that the work on display will be as broad as ever, as student’s exhibit a variety of installations, graphic art, model making, paint on canvas and much more.

Without giving the game away, here’s a sneak peak…

Meanwhile, over at our Folly Lane campus…
In an impressive display of commitment, quite a few of our Extended Diploma students actually opted to come in during half term to put the finishing touches to their work!

I caught up with level 3 student Ollie Cornelius, who gave me an insight into the work that he’ll begin installing next week. The piece is his interpretation of the Seven Ages of Man from William Shakespeare’s As You Like It. Ollie has chosen to design graphics to represent these different periods (infant, schoolboy, lover, soldier, justice, pantaloon and old age) before burning them on to logs. Interesting stuff…

Elsewhere, for the students who were enjoying a well-earned half term break at home, workspaces lay untouched before next week’s big push…
