The Biennale Europea d’Arte Fabrille in Stia is a world famous international Blacksmithing festival, held every two years in the Tuscan mountains above Florence. It’s here that the World Forging Championships take place and Blacksmiths come from across the world to participate in this acclaimed event.

I am both proud and delighted to announce that recent graduate Sam Pearce won the World Forging Championship! The competition is judged by an international jury of professionals from across the world, who have the difficult task of choosing the world champion and this year’s jury included Achim Kühn (Germany), Brian Russels (England), Daniel Miller (USA), Karel Bures (Czech Republic), Ryszard Mazur (Poland) and Rossella Segreto Annigoni (Italy).

Sam wore his Anvil t-shirt while he forged and was ably assisted by Ambrose Burne, a key lecturer on the programme who striked for him throughout the competition. What an accolade! Well done Sam!
