As part of our series of Moving Forward blog posts, Rebecca reflects:

“Now 6 months into the masters course I feel as though I have already gone through a journey of exploration and change within the areas of theory and making. Now is a time for my work to start to connect together all of the elements of the workshop experimentation for the creation of what I am now calling “Memory Boxes”.

Within these memory boxes I intend to interweave the different materials and processes that I have developed. In the print studio I have produced a series of reduction lino cut prints which I will use to decorate the interior of the boxes. Taking these lino cut ideas into textiles I have enjoyed experimenting with the technique of flocking.Through my research into the Victorian fascination of mourning I have developed the idea of a hair work by using silk to reproduce the woven effect. Pulling my research and skills together is where I am at now.”
