The curators were particularly taken by Aiden’s proposal which really took on the context of the exhibition and the site with a piece of site-specific, forged metal work to be installed in the stream in front of the house. As part of his proposal, Aiden states,

“For Fresh Air I am proposal to create a functional sculpture to interact with water. Using the process of fullering, I have been able to create change in water movement making the water become a feature in itself! I want the sculpture to be naturally powered using only the pressure of water to form the ripple patterns; the design will form eddies in the centre of the piece and externally create large, elegant ripples pushing out into the rest of the river.  The piece itself is a piece of art, which will constantly create an ongoing external form. The elegance of water impacts itself upon the strength of the steel to create a beautiful harmony.”

The challenge for Aiden is to have another site visit and measure the depth of the stream, consider the size of stock to use and develop this proposal into a final outcome in time for installation of the exhibition in early June.”
