Talking about why he choose to study at Masters level, Will says:

“Beginning the Masters in Contemporary Craft here at HCA seemed like a natural progression from the BA. The same staff that had guided me through 3 years of experimenting in my own practice, those who knew it best, would now provide the plateau for me delve further and chart new ground.

The focus of my MA research centres on the aesthetics of industrial materials in refined jewellery. I am interested in taking materials that are often perceived as inferior such as concrete and then through design, implementation and composition giving them a new desirable aesthetic.

I am exploring the qualities and characteristics of concrete in conjunction with a handful of carefully selected materials. These will form a small collection of rings in which these materials are prominent. Silver, glass and concrete will form the basic elements which through design variation, use of proportion, exploration of light and surface texture lead to a myriad of aesthetic possibilities for these works.”
