Reflecting on why she chose to do an MA Holland writes:

“I chose to do the MA because I really wanted to pour myself into a big project idea and I needed the staff at HCA to help me achieve my plans- nowhere else would suffice. I’ve been studying at and using the college’s facilities for six years now and I couldn’t imagine a better creative community to be a part of.

My MA project is an exploration into magic, shamanism, possession, and ritual’s healing effect on trauma. I am exploring the psychology behind ritual as well as creating my own which I play out using the work. The figures are laden with symbolism and narrative and their interactive theatrical nature questions perceived power balances between victim, abuser and observer. My focus is on the different types of abuse which occur during female developmental stages and how these traumas effect women’s relationships with their own bodies.”
