Never ones to sit around, the Easter break proved to be a busy and productive one for all of our students on the BA (Hons) Contemporary Design Crafts programme. Many used the time away from College to further their research and two such stories come from our intrepid first year’s Emilia and Tori.

Tori used her time to visit the Natural History Museum in London using the collections housed there as a catalyst for her next project. She has chosen to explore how naturalists preserve and present the particular specimens on display, and will use this to instigate a period of material sampling and object development through the medium of ceramics.

Emilia wandered slightly further afield finding herself in Copenhagen. For those of you that have had the pleasure of spending time in this magnificent city you will no doubt have been struck by the abundance of great design (and good food). Emilia was no different and found herself in the design museum on more than one occasion.

As you can see from her photo (at the top) this has provided a rich and inspirational starting point for her next module. I for one can’t wait to see what comes next!
