The Tingalairy Man and his Bandomobile

One of our Creatives in Residence Hannah Rees has been working on a new and exciting book project called  The Tingalairy Man and his Bandomobile during her  time with us!
Hannah is an Illustrator and has written and illustrated a story very loosely based on an experience from her nana’s childhood about the day the Organ Grinder (Tingalairy Man in Leeds) came to their street to brighten up everyone’s day.
Hannah’s first project after leaving HCA in 2013 was to illustrate a children’s book for author Greg Dobbins, which is now in publication.  Drawing on that success she wrote her own children’s book and wished to use her time at Hereford College of Arts to illustrate it. ” The best resource for me has been the staff, as there’re loads of people who know loads of stuff!”

For the exhibition in April she will be exhibiting four of her final pages, along with an image of the Bandomobile- a contraption which features largely in the book.

For a chance to see what all of our Creatives in Residences have been up to during their times with us keep an eye out on our event page for the Exhibition dates!
