Last night saw the second in this years Aspects of Gardens talks and possibly the tallest flowers ever seen in the College! Noel Kingsbury delighted his evening guests with an interesting and enlightening talk on current trends in contemporary planting design. Entitled ‘Wilder and Wilder’ his talk gave the lowdown on how art and nature are finally coming together, judging by the stunning  flowers on display it was obvious that as well as wilder and wilder, taller and taller is also proving popular!

The Aspects of Gardens series has moved from the Spring to the Autumn at the College, to provide food for thought over the winter as keen gardeners and designers prepare for the Spring. It also allows for talks to take place in the College’s newly improved theatre, with new seating installed to make your visit more enjoyable. There is something for everyone with an interest in gardens from their history right through to design.

This years series has also included a real delight for the senses as The Cottage Herbery Trust kicked off with their talk entitled ‘Aromatica’ which highlighted the use of many scented plants throughout history through to todays uses.

If you haven’t managed to catch either of these talks the good news is that there is still time to enjoy the rest of the series. Rachel Salisbury joins us on the 15th October to explore Medieval and Tudor Gardening and Nicholas Stephens concludes the series on the 22nd October with his talk on ‘Hellens Manor House and Gardens’ which looks at the history of these beautiful gardens.
