Following on the heels of a visit to the Quenington Old Rectory in Gloucestershire, BA(Hons) Artist Blacksmithing and BA(Hons) Contemporary Design Crafts students recently embarked on a full-day excursion up to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Named the UK’s number 1 museum in 2014, students toured the grounds of the museum in search of inspiration and enlightenment in anticipation of submitting proposals for 2015’s Fresh Air outdoor sculpture exhibition from 14th June – 5th July at the Quenington Old Rectory estate.

Their visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park offered amazing exposure to an array of different approaches to outdoor sculpture, as well as plenty of bus time for a large group of Artist Blacksmiths to practice their vocal talents. Sadly, Peter Gabriel’s 1986 classic Sledgehammer did not make the playlist. Next time…
