Congratulations to Matt Day, one of four BA (Hons) Contemporary Design Crafts students recently selected to participate in the acclaimed outdoor sculpture exhibition, Fresh Air. With this invitation comes a phenomenal opportunity for Matt, as his pieces will be on display alongside works by prestigious makers from across the UK and abroad.

Matt’s proposed piece is a collection of two forms, each digitally rendered and printed using 3D Printing technology at the College. The forms are inspired by swans which Matt studied on the grounds at the Quenington Old Rectory, where the Fresh Air exhibition will take place from Sunday June 14th to Sunday July 5th. You can find moore information about the exhibition on the Fresh Air website.

Matt offers the following statement about his proposed piece, which will be installed on the waterway surrounding the rectory grounds.

“To me, they [the swans] encapsulate all that is beautiful and pure in nature. It is this ethereal quality I strive to evoke via a process of making that is driven by my passion for digital technologies. Such modern tools provide new ways to explore the natural world.”
