I head out to the Forge at Holme Lacy on Thursdays and spend the afternoon and evening with the students.

Yesterday I took these photos of Dan Moss. He is currently making a large, sculptural piece for his final show, which is going to be installed in the Courtyard outside the main hall at our College Road Campus.

The sculpture has sixty-four tenon joints, so Dan spent the day making a swage tool for our 3/4 CWT clear space Massey; tooling up will allow him to work smart and with sixty-four tenons accurately tooling is essential. Tooling up takes time, but in the long run it saves time.

I took a snap of him welding (top) and another of the swage tool (above). More blog posts to follow!
