A brand new cohort of students from the Extended Diploma in Art & Design course started their workshop rotations. In Small Metals their brief was ‘Movement (Map Art)’.

The students were introduced to a number of basic processes such as rolling, press-forming, torch work and polishing. It always amazes me to see how naturally and confidently the students take to the new environment and processes. For many it is the first time they will have picked up a piece of metal, let alone worked with specialist tools and machines.

These sessions are great; not only do they inform students on various techniques, materials and safety procedures but they are creative and fun.
