We are approaching the final week of study on the Foundation Diploma and Portfolio Course for this academic year.  The hand in deadline is almost upon us, the atmosphere in the studios and specialist workshops is one of high-energy with anticipation of the deadline and final collective exhibition.

The  Foundation studios, normally a site of calm contemplation, personal productivity and shared ideas and dialogue is gradually being dismantled in order to accommodate a professional collective exhibition.

Like the studios, the specialist workshops have been buzzing with industry and creativity.  The Foundation Diploma and Portfolio Course students are working to refine dozens of specialist techniques and processes in order to complete their work for exhibition.  This final part of the course determines the overall grade that the students will achieve for their qualification.  Lizzy (pictured) has been working on a project for the Hay Literary festival and her arch of books will be featured at the festival site.

Lily (Centre) has also produced work for the Hay Festival in the form of a giant cut out story book.  Students who have worked on live projects or collaborations for their final PART 3 of the course have had to learn the importance of having a reliable team of friends to help out.

It’s a familiar sight to see the students walking down the lane to the Foundation Studios each morning, this time of year and with final deadline approaching, it is not surprising to see one of our students wearing a cardboard bear head….  Watch this space to see the studio transform over the next few weeks prior to the opening of the exhibition on 13th June.
