The Portal Exhibition is hosted by Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre who annually travel the UK to select the cream of this year’s graduates in the applied arts. Their aim is to search for those who are pushing the boundaries of applied art whilst maintaining and developing the traditions of their craft. The curators select makers and designers who they believe are destined to lead and shape the next generation of applied artists and the great news is that they having visited the degree show, they have invited Christian Vaughan-Jones to exhibit.

The Exhibition runs from August 8th- 17th October. Follow the links below to find out more:

Writing about his work, Christian says,

“My work explores the energy and controlled brutality of splitting stone coupled with the measured approach needed to make well-executed forged components that emphasize attention to detail. The dynamic forces necessary to manipulate both materials excite my passion for creating sculpture that celebrates physicality, energy, separation and unity.”
