If you have read previous blogs you will know that three of our second year students were selected to make awards for Herefordshire Council’s Diamond Awards. Last week we were emailed the winners, so that we were able to laser etch their names and finish off the awards, and then safely deliver them to the Town Hall.

Last night was the awards dinner, so the students, Gabe, Doug and Chris, and I headed to the Town Hall.  It was a real privilege for us to see how an object transforms depending on its context.  Moving the awards from the workshop, surrounded by tools, anvils and coke to centre-stage in a formal dinner at the Town Hall was remarkable, and then seeing the pride of the award winners, holding the objects was really powerful.

The students were acknowledged throughout the presentation and the photographer made sure that each student was photographed with the award winners.  It was a great evening and everyone was delighted with the awards.

It definitely was an evening for Gabe, Doug and Chris to remember.
