January can seem a dark month in terms of daylight hours but the world is full of colour inside and outside and in HCA we will be celebrating the wonderful diversity and richness of the experience of colour in life and art with a mini festival of talks, discussion and colourful, creative work throughout the month: HCA Inspired by Colour.

How to get involved

You can respond in any way that you feel is relevant to you.

  •  a photograph or series of photographs
  •  a sculpture
  • a design
  • a reading
  • a performance
  • a painting
  • an Illustration or animation
  • a piece of music
  • a piece of material or clothing or accessory
  • a video interview describing how colour enriches your life and work
  • an object

Be creative with colour over the winter break and bring your responses back at the start of term to share and inspire others.

Work will be exhibited or performed at either campus, shared via social media and on the HCA website throughout January. Last date for new submissions: Friday 28 January.

How to send in your response

For photographs, pieces of work, or objects please drop them off to the marketing team at College Road Campus. The office is next door to reception (the door is to the left when facing the reception desk). Please provide your name and course name and an explanation of how said piece enriches your life and work. Work returned to you after 31 January.

If you are creating a piece of music or performance please let marketing know by 12 January confirming performance date. Please provide your name and course name and an explanation of how said piece or performance enriches your life and work. If you are in a course group, the tutor or Course Leader will submit details on your behalf.

For videos please film on your phone or tablet in landscape. Max length of video 1 minute. Videos to be submitted to marketing@hca.ac.uk

If you prefer to submit digital images or videos of your own work or someone else’s music, performance, photograph, image etc. Please send to marketing@hca.ac.uk Please credit the artist and title of piece. Please provide your name and course name and an explanation of how said piece or performance enriches your life and work.
