HCA+ is a range of optional free extras to enhance your learning and experience. These are additional and not part of your degree programme.
Whether you’re going to be a fresher at HCA, part way through your degree or in the final year of your course, this list of additions has a little something for everybody!
It’s a great way to meet new people (who may not be on your course), develop new skills and pursue other interests outside your area of study.

You do not need to be a creative writer to attend. You may feel unsure about writing or want to use writing as part of your creative practice - this is a fabulous opportunity to play and experiment with writing in different ways.
The 6-week course includes 4 workshops (2.5 hours) plus small feedback seminars
Learn to engage your audience with techniques for writing blog posts and social media updates to get the best results for your creative business. Discover how to write in a conversational style that engages readers and promotes response.
The 4-week course includes a 1-hour session per week.
An introductory series of theory and research-based sessions, exploring topics such as ‘The Learner’, ‘The Teachers Toolkit’, ‘Teaching Resources’ and ‘Professional Practice’. After your research sessions, you will have the opportunity to put your knowledge into practice by shadowing an experienced member of staff and working alongside our college-level students. This course is a sure-fire way to find out if teaching is for you and offers great experience prior to enrolling on a teaching qualification after your HCA course.
The course includes 4 hours of theory and 4 hours of teaching practice.
