Avid readers of the Artist Blacksmithing blog will already know that BABA are organising a global exhibition, Transition, as part of the Ypres 2016 International Blacksmithing Event and I am the main organising curator.

The selection process for the BABA Transition exhibition will be a mammoth task with over 75 proposals from 15 countries to be rigorously reviewed and discussed. The international jury made up of Professor Heiner Zimmerman representing HDK Steneby and Germany, Chris Porcarelli from the USA, Jokum Lind Jensen from Denmark, Elspeth Bennie representing BABA and the UK and myself, now have to meet, deliberate and select for the exhibition.

As the jurors are from all across the world, we decided to “meet” and discuss over Skype rather than fly. Here are the precious recorded delivery envelopes, with memory sticks full of proposals, ready to go!

We have some really strong proposals from our current students and recent graduates, so I am really excited to hear what the other jurors think and see how the selection process progresses.
