Richard chose to make a chair for this module. It was a big challenge both in terms of designing and producing the finished article. The inspiration for the chair came from observing the viscosity of paint and pouring, he wanted the chair to flow and as part of his design process he needed to consider both ergonomics and aesthetics.

When it came to his presentation and summative assessment he knew exactly which bits of the chair worked and what needed to be improved. The chair presented was much more of a working prototype than a final outcome.  I am hoping that, as part of the next module, he is going to tweak and alter and that he’ll be able to exhibit the completed chair in his degree show.

There are always lots of choices as a new module starts- will Richard choose to make a second chair or instead deconstruct and reassemble this one?
