All our second year blacksmiths study a professional practice module, called “Exploring Futures”. It gives students an opportunity to either go on a work placement, organise an exhibition or work in a community setting and then they write up a reflective document about what they have learned.

This year, Rhodri was feeling very ambitious and he decided to head off to the Ukraine! He is currently attending the International Blacksmith Festival ‘SVIATO KOVALIV-2015’ in Ivano-Frankivsk, West Ukraine.

The festival includes demonstrations of blacksmithing skills by Ukrainian and foreign participants, master classes from prominent expert blacksmiths plus a conference and exhibition.

Rhodri had a star turn by talking about his experience of studying our undergraduate programme and I am really looking forward to hearing more about what he saw and experienced. I know he will come back with some amazing stories.
