Every year the Worshipful Company of Blacksmiths sponsors a stand at The Royal Three Counties Show.  There are a number of blacksmithing competitions for both professionals and students and every year Adrian Legge coordinates transporting lots of our students’ finished work, and they enter all the competitions.

The stand becomes a great exhibition space and this year lots of students went and helped install their final pieces.  The focus is on second year work, because third work has to stay in College to be assessed.

This year there were some great successes – Richard Oliver won first prize in the student class for his screen, which was made earlier on in the year as part of his design development module, and Ambrose Burne won first prize in the class for professionals, with a sample screen for one of his clients in France.

As a course we believe in taking every opportunity to promote and exhibit the students’ work, as well as the Three Counties Show, every year we go to the Royal Welsh Show and are always on the lookout for new exhibition and pop-up shop opportunities.
