Just before the Easter break Mike Gell popped into the Small Metals workshop to tell the L6 Jewellery students about ‘Alloy’.

Alloy is a Herefordshire based group of Jewellers and Silversmiths at all stages of their careers. Mike Gell and Natalia Silver set up Alloy in 1993. The aim of the group was to bring designer makers together in a non-competative and supportive atmosphere.
Alloy runs a graduate placement scheme to support recent graduates through the first 18 months of their business and a number of HCA students have fed into this over the years.

This is an anual visit on Mike’s part and as well as telling the students about Alloy he also gives a no nonsense account of life as a jeweller and is also on hand to give valuable advice and support.
