The first week of any new course is a bit weird; the teaching hasn’t started and there are lots of new faces and new people to meet so we decided to start our week with some innovative ice breakers…

Students were put into teams and given huge sheets of plastic, big rolls of sticky tape and challenged to make giant inflatables to be blown up on the main lawn. I had the privilege of being one of the judges and awarding big boxes of chocolates and lots of sweets to the prize winning teams. It was really good fun and the main thing was that it got everyone working together, chatting and getting to know each other across Artist Blacksmithing, Contemporary Design Crafts, Jewellery Design and Textile Design courses.
