We really believe in students meeting high profile practitioners in their discipline during their studies with us and we run a series of lectures by visiting high profile practitioners. Yesterday David Tucker came from Derbyshire for the day. David Tucker is often referenced in student sketchbooks so it was great that he visited us to talk about his practice.

Before the lecture Adrian and Tony showed him around our design studios and he was really inspired by the breadth of work and the creativity demonstrated by our students, which is always exciting to hear.

His lecture was really informative, he talked very clearly about his inspiration and the importance of testing possibilities and spending time designing. He was very informative and generous and shared with the students how his business runs and how he calculates a design fee. He went through a range of projects really methodically, showing us inspiration, design drawing and final outcome.

After the lecture we all headed out to the forge and he spent the afternoon giving students tutorials!

It was great having him here for the day, I only wish he worked closer and could be part of our team. Check out his website to see more of his work  www.blacksmith-artist.co.uk
