The First Year Textile Design students were given a short 2 week Design Brief from the Principal Richard Heatly, in association with the Student Union, to design and print cushions for the new Cafe space at the College Road Campus.

The students were given the words:-

B R I G H TG E O M E T R I C

P R I N T

…..and from these they had to research, as a group, select a colour palette again, as a group, and then design, print and make 2 cushions each to a professional standard.

The project was led by the superb HE Textile Technical Demonstrators Karen Bourke and Becky Roberts who ensured the students worked professionally and produced beautifully finished cushions. A BIG thank you must go to Karen and Becky as the outcomes are stunning.

The plan is to ask the Prinicpal to select three ‘winners’ and select the final range which will go in to the Cafe ready for the start of the new academic year.

What a colourful, bright end to a fantastic year 1st Years!
