Creative Capture

I am thrilled to present a further guest blog post from Aine Venables, Illustration Lecturer at HCA. This post outlines some innovative digital capture planned for next week. The possibilities here are endless – very exciting!

Aine and Marion, with the technical help of Nick Brown and Oli Cameron-Swan, will be inventively recording a book arts workshop with the Extended Diploma students on Weds 27^th April in the Illustration studio. This form of creative capture was showcased by the German design organisation Hands On Studio at Milan Design Week recently http://www.hands-on-studio.de/en/start-en/

The overhead filming of creativity is edited then projected onto tabletops – just think of the possibilities for demonstration as well as creative capture and display!

I can’t wait to see how this turns out, and I really hope we can collaborate to see how this kind of capture of process and movement might work together with the teaching methodologies of #CClasses. Just think how this might ‘open up’ the studio.

On that note, we were lucky enough to have lecturer Lara Furniss present at one of our Creative Lunches on Friday. Lara’s work on the need for design education to be more ‘agile’  is fascinating. I will be writing in far more detail about Lara’s visit shortly, but for reasons related to our forthcoming Connected Class regarding ’employability in the visual arts’ I need to keep this post back for a while.
