Today’s lesson took the form of B-Boy Battle meets Pictionary!

Armed with a piece of chalk, I met with the second year Blacksmiths in a room with a blackboard. The students took it in turns to take the chalk and scrawl their idea on to the blackboard and once their drawing was understood, the next student stepped up.

The mission: To explore the possibilities of a set of forging questions.
The aim: To explore some of the options for the second year Advanced Processes Module.

The group had 3 sessions to address the following questions:
What could you forge on the end of a bar?
What could you forge in the middle of a bar?
What forged solutions are possible to connect two or more bars?

These seem like relatively simple questions but the amount of drawing and discussion that resulted was incredible! It was a fantastically creative session with ideas flowing and the group bouncing ideas of each other. In fact it soon became so lively that some of the third year students couldn’t resist getting involved too.

So a great day of drawing and even though we only scratched the surface we all left with plenty of ideas to try in the workshop.
