Dan graduated last year focussed and ready to set up his workshop and begin running his business.  His workshop is not far from Kilpeck on the outskirts of Hereford and so last week I decided to drop by. I was delighted to see that Kitty, the Massey Power Hammer, is fully installed and working! The workshop looks fantastic- Dan has several commissions, including a large sculptural piece and the workshop is a hive of activity.

Talking about his practice, Dan says,

“Metal sculpture and functional metal work is what I’m all about. Through a combination of hot metal forging, cold metal manipulation and bending, machining using CNC and manual techniques and fabrication I make bespoke and one off pieces. I also make small runs of products with very limited numbers. As a designer maker, I predominantly work in steel but I like to use it alongside other materials like wood, concrete, brass and many more. I’m inspired by my love of all things mechanical and this interest stems primarily from my previous occupation as a mechanical engineer “.
