Another successful Affordable Arts Fair took place at the end of last year, run by the Extended Diploma Art and Design students. For the first time, the event was hosted by The Courtyard in Hereford – alongside the Contemporary Craft Fair – and then moved in to the Folly Lane Campus here at HCA the following week.

The fair has become a fixture in the calendar, and enables students to produce a whole range of products across the specialist groups before selling their work locally. Our good fortune to have excellent workshop facilities within the College has meant that students benefit from working with individuals who have their own practices outside of the College.

It has also proved valuable in developing knowledge in all of the aspects that go alongside the production of work, such as costings, time management and presentation. As an outcome of the fair, £128 was raised for charity. This represented 10% of the takings, and a student vote has seen the charities Beth’s Wish & Help for Heroes benefit equally.

Well done to all of the students involved. If you’d like to see more of their work, and have a look behind the scenes in ED Art & Design, follow us on Instagram!
