Writing about the module Rhodri says:

“The concept I started with was the simplification of joining processes by integrating the aesthetic elements into the joining systems. Essentially instead of having external connections such as rivets or welds, the actual elements that make up the structure also keep it together. Originally this started in the way I felt was simplest, by wrapping elements around each other, or passing them through each other. However, as it developed I included the idea of using stress to create a connection. This is where separate elements hold each other in place using pressure, generally either tension or compression. The integrity of the structure depends on the intentional creation permanent stresses within the structure. I believe these tension-compression interactions can be used to minimalize material, simplify form and has conceptual applications in sculpture”.
