Advance Processes – Peter Burgess

ABAP is a second year module which is focussed on students exploring and testing a specific forge process and annotating, analysing and evaluating their findings in a technical journal.

Peter’s project was all about upsetting. He decided to test a number of variants. Did it make a difference how the bar was cut? What impact did heat make? How many times to hit with the power hammer and at what temperature?  He was methodical and thorough and by the end of this module an upsetting expert. Reading his evaluation, he is very keen to continue to use upsetting within his emerging practice. I look forward to seeing what his next design is.
