WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ON HCA’S NEW DEGREES IN GAMES DESIGN AND DIGITAL CONTENT CREATION – AND THE NEW MILLION-POUND DIGITAL SKILLS CENTRE

Digital skills have fast become foundational skills for the majority of creative professions.

Whatever you want to work in, they are the tools that help you develop and communicate ideas. They are also the ticket to exciting new frontiers for the arts and for innovation.

Last year’s Creative Skills Report ranked digital and film-making as easily the two most in-demand skillsets – while the majority of industry professionals said that developing ‘future digital skills’ (skills in emerging technologies like 3D modelling and printing, or VR) would help them attract new clients.

Next September HCA is launching two new specialist degrees designed for people who love visual arts and want to bring their ideas to screens and headsets everywhere.

The two new courses are BA (Hons) Games Design, and BA (Hons) Digital Content Creation.

The new courses will increase the range of specialist digital skills on campus – and the opportunities for all students to collaborate in new media, and develop their own multi-disciplinary skills.

You can now find them on our degree course page here: https://www.hca.ac.uk/course-level/university-level.

Both courses are also listed on UCAS, and you can apply today to start your career in Games Design or Content Creation this September.

Current students will not have to wait until September to take advantage of a new, million-pound specialist Digital Skills Centre at the heart of the College Road Campus (pictured above).

The new, industry-standard studio space will open this Spring, and will be available to students across all courses. Designed to operational net zero standards by RIBA award-winning architect Kate Darby, the pioneering facility is set up for co-working, collaborative space – and to host seminars.

An unrivalled digital studio for the city, it will be available to all HCA students  – and provide a space tailor-made to launch the careers of the next generation of digital content creator, entrepreneurs and creative games designers.

We are proud that this new Digital Skills Centre is part of Stronger Hereford’s 15 trailblazing projects transforming the city, thanks to a £22.4 million from the Government’s Towns Fund.
