Graduation 2021
Registration - Left Bank, Bridge Street
Please arrive at the Left Bank, Bridge Street entrance between 11.00am – 12.30pm, for registration and collection of gowns. Family and guests are welcome to accompany you for registration and photographs. The registration desk and gowns will be located on the first floor so please make your way straight up the stairs when you arrive.
It is vital that you register with us before making your way to the Cathedral as you will be presented with a registration card, showing your seat number. Please keep this card with you until you are asked for it during the ceremony.
Once you have registered, you will be directed by Ede & Ravenscroft staff to collect your gown and have your photograph taken (if applicable). Please bring your order confirmation from Ede & Ravenscroft, if applicable.
If you have decided not to order a gown and photography pack through Ede & Ravenscroft – it is important that you still follow the registration instructions above.
There are plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants very close-by if you and your guests want to have an early lunch or snack.
Hereford Cathedral – Finding your seat
After you have successfully registered, collected your gown and your photographs have been taken, please make your way to Hereford Cathedral between 1.00pm – 1.30pm and find your allocated seat, as marked on your registration card. There will be plenty of staff to help you find your place.
Please be aware that guests are seated separately to students gradating in the Cathedral. There will be an allocated guest seating area in the Cathedral but guests will not have individual seat numbers. If your guests have any special requirements with regards to seating/disabled access, please call our graduation team on 01432 273359
Hereford Cathedral – Graduation Ceremony
The ceremony will follow the order shown in the Graduation Programme, which you will receive in the Cathedral.
When the presentation part of the ceremony begins, you will be directed, one row at a time towards the plinth – please ensure you have your registration card ready to hand over at this point.
If you have won a prize, your prize will be announced as you walk across the plinth so you will only have to go up once.
After the Ceremony
You will be advised when to leave your seats and slowly process out from the Cathedral. You will be asked by Ede & Ravenscroft staff to return your gown to the Left Bank and then join us at a drinks reception for post-Graduation celebrations where you will receive a complimentary drink, don’t forget your ticket! Please use the main entrance off Bridge Street into the building.
Covid guidance for Hereford College of Arts Graduation and Awards Ceremony - September 2021
To help keep yourself and others safe, please observe the following:
Please do not attend the ceremony if you develop any of the main symptoms of Covid
- A new continuous cough
- A high temperature
- A loss or change to your normal sense of smell or taste
Ahead of the ceremony, we encourage you to use home tests for Covid without symptoms, ideally twice, 3 to 4 days apart. These can be ordered online.
On the day of the ceremony we request you wear a face covering (unless exempt) when entering the cathedral and whilst moving to take your place, until you are sitting. We will have a supply of disposable face coverings at the entrances for anyone who needs one.
Please follow the “catch it, kill it, bin it” procedure for coughs and sneezes; as per government advice for educational institutions, ensuring you catch any coughs or sneezes in a tissue, and sanitise your hands afterwards when you can. There will be sanitiser around the cathedral, although you are also encouraged to carry a small bottle to facilitate your personal use.
