This year we welcome some fresh faces to HCA. Nick, Karina and Alice make up the BA Textiles team.

With a wealth of skills and experience in embroidery, knit, material and pattern design, the department will share their industry knowledge and practice for the new term.

Nick Thomas takes on the reins this year of Course Leader. Nick has worked as a fashion designer in both the luxury and high-street sectors, including time overseas.

“I’m really excited to be taking on this new academic year supported by a staff team with such a wealth of experience in contemporary textile practice.  The Textile Design course here is really special, with the opportunity to learn multiple processes in our amazing workshops supported by a strong technical staff too.  We encourage a strong studio culture as everyone has their own dedicated working space, which also reflects the experience you’d have in industry.”

Karina and Alice are new to HCA. As well as working regularly with Next, Karina regularly exhibits her large scale work all over the world in diverse setting such as the New York Gift Fair, and the Biological Anthropological Research Centre in Bradford.

Alice is a designer and artisan manufacturer of woven and embroidered textiles who has exhibited work at Première Vision in Paris, and now sells her woven and mixed media designs through leading UK textile design studio Dash + Miller.

We are enrolling until October 2019 for this year.
