Lothar Götz designed flag at Kington Clock Tower

Lothar Götz has made a series of large-scale abstract art works to welcome visitors and enrich residents’ experience of Hereford. Vibrant and geometric works are displayed on each end of Station Approach as well as a number of dazzling flags designed by the artist.

In collaboration with HCA, Meadow Arts and RidgeBank Contemporary Art Space in Kington, Lothar Götz chose one of his flag designs especially to fly from the Clock Tower.

Götz is a master in the use of colour. His works, typically paintings, drawings and installations that respond to existing structures, have included commissions for South Bank Centre, London (2014); Leeds Art Gallery (2017), and the Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne (2019) to much acclaim.

The No. 1 Station Approach installation in Hereford is one of fourteen projects that have been made possible thanks to a successful £22.4million funding bid to the Stronger Towns Fund.

RidgeBank would like to thank Kington Chamber of Trade and Kington Town Council for supporting this project. Thank you to Christian Price for raising the flag.
