When we imagined the 2020 postgraduate academic year, we didn’t conceive of the extraordinary and frightening reality of COVID-19; our world turned upside down by a global pandemic.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge all of the MA Contemporary Crafts

students who have stayed grounded, productive, and connected to their work during this unprecedented time as we have all scrambled to recalibrate our lives to work online whilst desperately missing our peers, design studio’s and making spaces.

This online showcase is testimony to their brave resilience, every day they have managed the stress and uncertainty of the new reality, yet have still be able to focus, concentrate, and complete academic tasks, research and design and make. We are proud of what they have achieved; and are looking forward to their Graduate Exhibition in the Spring of 2021.
